Why big headlines sometimes do nothing
Gold does not react to news directly. It reacts through four channels, and a headline only moves the price when it changes at least one of them.
The four channels
Real yields, the dollar, geopolitics and central-bank demand. Real yields are the strongest single driver; the dollar amplifies or dampens the move; geopolitics sets the premium; central banks provide the structural bid that has kept dips shallow since 2024.
